The Paleontological Society; 75 years of presidents and presidential addresses

Presidents of the Paleontological Society are listed in order of election. Upon retiring, many, though not all, gave presidential addresses; these talks provide some indication of professional concerns of their day. Biographical data on the presidents suggest that the Society tends to elect older "leaders" of the profession, and eventually rewards many secretaries and treasurers by election to the presidency. In the past, male presidents interested in Paleozoic invertebrates most commonly have been elected by the Society.--Journal abstract.
