Conodonts and biostratigraphy of the Lower Mississippian of Missouri

Wayne F. Canis

Eighteen conodont genera which comprise fifty-six species from Lower Mississippian (Kinderhookian) strata of Missouri are described. Siphonodella sulcata (Huddle), S. duplicata (Branson and Mehl), S. quadruplicata (Branson and Mehl), and S. isosticha (Cooper) are the most useful species in establishing areal correlations among the Hannibal Shale, Bachelor Formation, Chouteau Limestone, Sedalia Dolomite, and Northview Shale.
