Dating of some beds in Panama and Trinidad

F. E. Eames, F. T. Banner, W. H. Blow, and W. J. Clarke

In this discussion of some of the conclusions reached by D. G. Jenkins (1964) in his paper entitled 'Panama and Trinidad Oligocene rocks', the authors conclude that a sample from Locality 21 of Woodring from the Quebrancha syncline, Panama, identified as Oligocene by Jenkins, is of Aquitanian (lower Miocene) age. Another sample, from the San Fernando Formation of Trinidad which Jenkins calls Oligocene the authors assign to the basal Aquitanian.
