Upper Cretaceous zone Foraminifera, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
Alan McGugan
Forty three species of Foraminifera, 2 new and 16 tentatively identified, are assigned to 25 genera and 13 families. The Foraminifera occur in marine shales found in the Comox Basin in the north and the Nanaimo Basin in the south. Three zones are erected on the basis of distinctive foraminiferal assemblages in the shales of the Comox Basin. These are: the Rugoglobigerina zone, of probable Campanian age, the Cibicides voltziana zone, of Late Campanian age, and the Bolivina incrassata zone of Early Maestrichtian age.
