Foraminifera and other fossils from late Tertiary deep-water coral thickets, Wairarapa, New Zealand
Paul Vella
Lists the species represented in faunal assemblages of two late Tertiary deep-water coral thickets of the Wairarapa region, New Zealand. The foraminifera (and mollusks) of the Miocene thicket indicate a sea depth of not less than 1,500 meters and a temperature of about 2 degrees C; those of the Pliocene thicket indicate a depth of 200-300 meters and a low temperature.
