Modestospira, a new Ordovician gastropod

Ellis L. Yochelson

"Modestospira, a new genus of widely phaneromphalous sinuate bellerophontacean is proposed, with M. poulseni, new species, as type. This genus is tentatively assigned to the Sinuitidae. The type species occurs on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, and in the Shelve area, Shropshire, England. Bellerophon polonicus Guerich from Poland is a related species; other poorly known British and Baltic species are questionably assigned. The genus seems to be characteristic of rocks of late Oelandian to early Viruan age."
