A chrysomelid beetle representing a new genus and species (Profidia nitida) is described from the amber of late Oligocene to early Miocene age from near Simojovel, Chiapas, Mexico. The following new genus and species is based on a single, excellently preserved specimen in amber from Chiapas, Mexico. It belongs to the subfamily Eumolpinae of the family Chrysomelidae.
