This study is a compilation of existing information on fossil fungi. The 204 known genera of fossil Eumycophyta are recorded together with a relatively complete bibliography. Genera, species, author, reference, age, and locality are given for reported North and South American species. Morphological variation in 32 species of fungal spores is illustrated by photomicrographs, and consideration is given to the possible use of fungal spores in palynology.
