Concavicaris and Quasicaris, substitute names for Colpocaris Meek, 1872, and Pterocaris Barrande, 1872

William David Ian Rolfe

The generic names Colpocaris and Pterocaris, assigned to phyllocarid crustacea, are shown to be junior homonyms of decapod crustacean genera. Concavicaris, referring to the concave nature of the posterior carapace margin, is proposed as a substitute for the former, and Quasicaris, referring to the doubtful nature of the fossil, for the latter.
