Hubert Clayton Skinner
The foraminifer known as "Proteonina difflugiformis" is present in sediments ranging in age from Cretaceous to Recent. It has been reported from the North Atlantic, the South Atlantic and the South Pacific oceans, from depths of 7 to 4500 m. It is here considered to belong to the genus Reophax Brady, and is redefined. Forms differing from the typical only in structure of the test wall are designated as subspecies. These include R. difflugiformis spiculata, Skinner, subsp. nov.; R. difflugiformis arenulata, Skinner, subsp. nov., and R. difflugiformis testacea, Flint.
