Reexamination of the type of Palaeocreusia devonica Clarke has shown that it is not an ancestor of a specialized type of barnacle (Creusia) as originally thought. It is probably the remnant of an acmaeid or patellid limpet that became lodged on the surface of a coral and was overgrown.
