The stratigraphical implication of the accelerated tempo of evolution in the Mesozoic-Cenozoic transition of Egypt

S. E. Nakkady

Cites examples of accelerated evolution in foraminifers from Cretaceous-Eocene passage beds (Esna shales) of Egypt. The rapid rate of evolution is attributed to environmental instability which was expressed lithologically by alternating deposition of chalk, marls, clays, and limestones.
